View Full Version : header gaskets
I've had a header gasket leak I've been wanting to fix so this weekend I removed the gasket to take a look at it. It appears the head (AFR) has square ports, the header is more an oval port. What would be the best gasket to use?
Right now it's got a copper gasket, with a raised lip on one side.

hmmm that is interesting. i thought if you had square ports you need a square port header as well. i cant help you on that one wish i knew more sorry man
That is what I though. My suspicion is the original owner wanted to use what he had and made due.

From what i have seen...most heads have square ish ports
and most headers are oval...headman hooker etc.
perhaps AFR recomends a gasket.
Ive had good luck with felpro 1404 or 1405

That's what I've seen. The intakes are either square or oval but the exhaust ports are square.
Will do. just ordered it and will get it installed this weekend.
Anyone using a copper gasket for the header?
