How do people price cars on CL / eBay

I’ve often wondered about how people come up with their asking prices when selling cars online.
I see $10,000 rust buckets that I wouldn’t pay $2000 for. I’ve emailed people asking how they come up with their asking price but never gotten a reply.
How do YOU determine what your cars worth when it’s time to sell?

Honestly, I put a stupid I don't care if I sell it prices to chase away all the cheap pricks. Too many people watch reality TV and think they can be some sort of swinging dick that flips cars for a profit.

I tend to look at what is for sale in a 500 mile radius that is compareable, and go from there.
