Just trying to get to know you guys better, and I thought some of us may have some other common interests beyond the chevelles.

For me, the chevelle is my main hobby, but I am also a very avid bicyclist and (although you may not think that if you saw me now after being off from working out after a head on car collision in may). I also am very big into custom wood working and cabinet making and have turned out some amazing pieces out of my crappy little shop. Unfortunately I dont have enough room for all, so my chevelle has too share the shop with the woodworking, so it either sits covered or gets backed out on days when the dust is really flying. I also am an avid shooter, I own lots and lots of diffrent types of firearms from small handguns to assault rifles. I enjoy taking my 8 year old daughter shooting, she recently got her first rifle. I also hunt and fish whenever i can.

When I am done doing all of that I also own my own electrical contracting company :D

I keep a busy plate for sure

So what else occupies your time?

Drag racing is big here. I like fishing, but that happens once a year or less.
As far as occupying time, lately it's snow removal and trying to stay off the couch, so I can get the car projects closer to being complete! (It's not working to well)

I have too many addictions... err, hobbies.

The Chevelle is my primary money-pit, and I use it to autocross, drag race, cruise, show, drive it on family vacations, etc.

Now in the "off-season" to get my racing "fix" I'm in an indoor karting league. It's good training to try to learn consistency and concentration in autocross. The league is made up of guys from a local autocross club, so these guys are GOOD drivers, which really challenges me to improve. I've always dominated when I've gone with friends, but I'm roughly mid-pack with these guys.

I'm also into guns, but not really into hunting... I try to get out once a month to run a mag or two through each of my pistols and assault rifles, and blow through a few hundred rounds with the .22s Also shoot clays occasionally, but I suck at it.

I have a 2-yo son named Cale, and my wife is currently pregnant... she's due in April, and we're having another boy.

I like to do a lot of woodworking and fishing with the grandkids. I'm collecting parts to build a streetrod and in the planning stages of building a wooden electric launch (that's a boat for you landlubbers).

Besides the Chevelle I have a '47 Chevrolet hot rod that keeps me busy driving all over Missouri and Arkansas. A '53 Chevy pickup was just added to my list of toys. I have a pretty good collection of '50s and '60 music and the last couple of years I've been collecting movies. I think I need help with theses addictions. :D

Besides my Chevelle, I play Roller Hockey, have a Sport bike, and enjoy paintball, and playing in Illustrator on my mac. Stuff I don't do often enough includes RC truck and car, Dirt bikes and drag racing.

Mostly the Chevelle and friends now. We use to have a cottage off Lake Huron so we did a lot of fishing and boating, ya even ice fishing. I was asked to relocate to SC, said ok and signed all the paperwork. Put the cottage up for sale and the company said, never mind, stay in MI. We completed the sale of the cottage and used some of the money to buy the Chevelle. I have a 19' Chaparral boat sitting in the yard that hasn't been used in years.

Still kinda po'd about that deal but it's ok. I have a Chevelle now and I've made a lot of great friends because of that.

Although it is not my career anymore, I am a chef by trade. I guess that since I don't work in the food industry anymore, it is a hobby. I love to cook all kinds of food. Otherwise, I am hanging with my sons...10 and 4, we like to go fishing.

New guy here, I spend most of my time racing hydroplanes. I just raced in Doha Qatar last month for the series first overseas race! This was my first year as Crew Chief for an Unlimited gas turbine powered hydro. I have been building the engines for a few years now and really enjoy that part of it the most.

I like to play with computers and my home network, I am a geek with a server rack in the basement. I also like to play with my daily drivers as well as the 3 Chevelles. My favorite thing to do is to spend time with my wife and 2 kids.

I have taken quite an interest in cooking over the last few years myself Jake, there really is a sense of relaxation to be found in it for me. I dont do fancy foods, I do meaty comfort foods, but I shock everyone with what I turn out around here. :)

Hey Jeff,
I am also interested in woodworking/cabinet making.
I have lots of tools dedicated to that, but find little time or space to really get going on projects. Have a few unfinished pieces to work on before new projects can be started. (I hate staining and finishing). post up some pics, they will be appreciated.

Also used to really be into custom paint and airbrushing but have not done that for quite a few years. I have two paint guns and one new airbrush that I have never even used yet.

Interested in: mountain bikes, cameras, digital graphics / design.
Have more interests than I have time or money for.

Let me figure out how to work my scanner and I will show a kitchen and bar I built for a former employer. Im the same as you, hate staining/ finishing . My grandpa was a master woodworker, we used to have a store nearby that was called unfinished projects or something like that, it was all raw wood products that people would buy and finish themselves in a color that matched there needs. My grandpa did very well in that store selling his unfinished stuff, he didnt like finishing either. His big thing was building beautiful and elegant grandfather clocks

I'm surprised it isn't higher yet! Maybe because everyone is Christmased out!
Love the big truck models! That is a great kit too! They tend to get pretty pricey for the OOP kits!
I owned a 1:1 like that for about a year trying to go Owner Operator in the 70's!

When I am not racing (none now until I get a new project) or helping my brother restore his 50 GMC PU, I am on my pc.
I own and run a website, plus visit six or seven.
And then I spend time helping Red Cross.
I have put a lot of miles in delivering blood and chilled plasma to hospitals and med centers all over Idaho.
I am single and prefer it that way.
Oh and the rest of the time from what some folks tell me I am a worthless asshole, but not the people that really know me. :)

I am more of a Blue note, Verve, Pacific jazz and Prestige person myself.

Decca and Columbia have some pretty cool stuff. You can't ever have too much Xavier Cugat, I tell ya.

I'll buy most anything jazz/lounge/big band/latin from the 50s-70s that's in good shape, though.

Even the stuff in bad shape can be salvaged for the music. I wash a lot of LPs in the kitchen sink :) then once they are on the computer, I use the magic razzle dazzle to get rid of the clicks and pops and the hiss.

I have my turntable, amp, and laptop set up in the basement, as it's the only place the records don't skip.

I can't tell, is that a Sota?

I've got an old HK T-35 I bought years ago when I was in college. I was looking at that and an AR, both demo models and the same price, in an American in Appleton, and like a dummy I bought the wrong damn one.

Still, it's been a good unit. I have an Audio Technica cartridge with their "line contact" stylus (same as Shure's hyperelliptical).

So, what do you clean your LPs with?

With that kind of playing equipment, I'm guessing one of these:

alas, with my budget, I'm limited to one of these, which is still better than a Discwasher:

Chris...could you ellaborate a little.

Toy train guys are after the sort of things they had when they were a child. Stuff like Lionell and American Flyer. The larger sized trains with 3 rails if you remember that. There were all sorts of accessories you could buy seperate to make your trains do more and interact with the children.

Scale model railroaders want to make thier trains look like the real thing. And not just the trains. The citys, towns, mountains, rivers, etc. They are after a minature world that looks real. Most modelers will also take thier locomotives and rail cars out of the package brand new and paint rust, soot and dirt effects onto the fresh paint to make them look as if they have been out in the elements for several years. Plus they will even tag thier cars with grafitti. Afterall, there isnt a whole lot of real life railroad cars or locomotives that arent dirty or rusty. Even brand new stuff gets grime on it after a few days.

They even go as far as to operate like the real thing with industries and businesses on thier layouts with comodities that are served by a rail road. Passenger train schedules. They use time tables just like the real railroads runs thier trains across the continent.

Also, around the early 90s. Computers have finally entered the hobby in a big way and now instead of controlling the polarity of the track. You are controlling the locomotives. In the old days, you either moved forward or backward and if you had 2 locomotives on the same track. They both either moved forward or backwards. Now, locomotives are available with a micro chip inside that allows you to operate it individually from the rest of the locomotives no matter where the others are. For the first time since the old days, actual head on, or any sort of train accident is potential now. These type of systems require a system to operate the trains instead of the old transformers that connect to the track though. As its a computerized system that you connect to the tracks. Instead of the old small transformer box like in the old day.

Dont get me started on the hot new thing the last few years. Sound equipped locomotives. Companies are using professional sound equipment and recording the real locomotives to use for sound in the same make of minature locomotives. Right down to the idle sounds, horns, air brakes, etc.

Just a few pics I had saved to kind of show what its all about. This is not my work personally.

To put how much I like vinyl in to perspective. My turntable costs more then the car I drive. Mind you not our chevelle but our daily driver. Gotta have your priorities straight ya know.

Nothing wrong with a disc washer but you may want to try one of the mofi brushes.

I actually was a car guy first but have been into trains since around my early teens. I have been in to cars before I was 10, if you can really call it that. All I wanted up till then was hotwheels and matchbox cars for christmas every year. Started getting hooked a little more in the HO scale model train stuff in the mid to late 80s. Then when I got my 66 in 1993. That hobby pretty much took over and just recently started getting back into the train stuff along with the cars.

I totally forgot to add another picture I found which was the whole reason I wanted to post some pictures in the first place. Found this picture online a few months back and had to save it. Model Railroaders are car guys too. I know several car guys whom are also in the model RR hobby.

Gotta put something here Chevelle related.Waving

The hoods open on many of these small cars so thats why it looks like its not closed all the way.

Other hobbies... let's see
Family, 10 year old grandson, 1 year old grandaughter, friends, going to the gun range shooting my Glock .40 cal, boating, enjoying a nice cold beer, going to our lake house on Lake Mayfield, going to our beach house at Birch Bay, our 3 year old pom (can't spell it), enjoying a nice cold beer, watching our son catch 40+ inch long tiger muskies out of the lake, working in the yard (riding my mower anyway) then enjoying a nice cold beer, going on a diet after enjoying all those nice cold winter brews, cleaning the garage, enjoying nice cold  ... sorry, I don't mean to give the wrong impression as I don't drink beer before shooting or driving, well maybe on the riding lawnmower once in awhile. :)

Hey Classic Greg, I've got a Glock too.
Mine is a Model 30, .45 cal compact.

We'll have to see if TOG has one too, maybe it's a Greg thing?

I've got a few other guns, nothing fancy or overly expensive.
I used to get out and shoot fairly often but do so pretty rarely anymore.

Other than enjoying my Buick I'm into...

Archery and bowhunting. I've taken many deer, 5 elk, and a bear with my bow so far. I've also taken deer, antelope, and a bear when I used to rifle hunt.

I also like playing our XBox 360, Wii, and PS2 with (and without) my two boys who are 11 and 14. Austin, my 11 year old beats me most of the time on sports games, and Trevor my 14 year old gives me a serious run for my money in the racing games.

My wife and I like to get out and enjoy live music whenever the wallet and schedule allow as well.

Morn'in Greg Waving

My Glock is the 3rd Gen mod 22 w/night sights. I enjoy the way it shoots and I really like the .40 cal round as it's a good fit between the 9mm and the .45. I just wish ammo was cheaper! :( I try and buy bulk as much as possible for range shooting. Besides this being a Greg thing I guess Buick's are also? Of course mine was a little bit older than yours:) Have a great Thursday!

Greg - Maybe we can get together and figure out a time when we could head down there for some "Tiger Hunting" as my son calls it? You can take your boys and I would take my son and 10 year old grandson. You wouldn't need your boat as our boats are right on the dock (which Ben "Rambo" helped build) ready to go! From the Lynwwood/Everett area it takes about 2 1/2 hrs to get down there and the house sleeps 8 comfortably not including couches! Anyway, something to think about for summer plans and maybe we could get the PNW guys/gals down there for a weekend as I can fit about 20-25 cars in the back lot with room for tents/campers, etc.

I am attaching some pic's from down there...
