Not your typical thread from me,but I came home from work today to my my wife in diabetic shock trying to get into her car to go to the hospital to see her mom. Thank God I came home when I did. I called the paramedics, and she is ok now. Lindsay and her finacee came home and took Maureen over to the hospital to see her mom, only hours to live? I will go over later ,but in the meantime I have to take care of the dogs and puppies. I want my best friend back.

Glad to hear that Maureen is better. I hope your mother in law is not suffering, are they keeping her comfortable?

Take care of yourself, you need to be there for Maureen. And remember, it is ok for men to cry.

My friend,

You know you, your wife and your mother in law are in our thoughts and prayers.

My heart aches knowing what you have all been going through and the pain it has caused.

I am here for you at any time...call if you need a friend or just someone to reach out to.

My personal prayer for all is comfort and well being in this time of turmoil. Your good people and you need to know that.

Glad Maureen is doing better. Keep an eye her, don't let her neglect her own health while she worries about her mom.

Things are better today. My daughter will be staying with us until Maureens mom passes, she will keep an eye on her which will help.

That's good news Gary. As bad as it sounds I hope her mom goes soon. She and everyone else is suffering. If there was a possibility of a good outcome that would be different, but we all know what the end result is going to be. Hang in there, just have to do what you have to do.

Remember, you just called her you best friend, so be her best friend. Just be there, take the abuse if it comes but be there. Her mom's passing is going to hit her like a rock. It will be a relief but it will take some time for things to get back to normal. Don't expect things to be perfect again right away.

Good luck my friend.

Bad day for the wife, she was being nasty to Lindsay. I do not want my daughter to have to witness this,so I told her to go home and that would make me happy. My daughter does not deserve to be treated like she was.

Ms Grumpy
06-20-2010, 07:14 PM
No one does, but remember Maureen is going through hell. Unfortunately she is lashing out at the people she loves the most. Just know that she does not mean what she is saying, and let your daughter know that. Maureen just needs to let it out.

How is your mother-in-law today?

Keep the faith Gary.

They have stopped feeding her as of Friday, hopefully it won't be much longer.

Ms Grumpy

Awe...

I take it that was a family decision. Poor Maureen, she is watching her mom fade away.

I remember you saying that Maureens sibling/siblings are not much help a while back. Have they stepped up since things are getting worse?

Hank70SS
06-20-2010, 08:33 PM
Lindsay knows what's going on and I'm sure she understands. Like I said before, you, Lindsay, whoever is close is going to catch hell. Fair, no, but that's the way it is.

Depending on overall health her mom could last a week, sounds like less in her case. It's hard to watch someone fade away so try to understand what Maureen is going through. Mom's and adult daughters can have an awful strong bond. Women don't accept that this is a part of life the way men do either. The next few days are going to be bad, not for her mom but for Maureen. In her state her mom's body will just slowly shut down. It sounds cruel but it's not. The hunger passes and they don't feel any pain. The organs just shut down until it's over. Not easy to watch, we watched Lynda's father go that way, but it's not cruel, they go peacefully.

Hang in there Gary, your best friend is having her insides ripped out right now. It will be over soon and it will get better.

God bless her and your wife and family as well.

This is not easy for any of you and my prayer for her is that she go quietly and without discomfort.
My prayer for Maureen is peace and tranquility knowing that her mom is going to be with God soon and my prayer for you and the family is also for peace and comfort and to comfort Maureen as much as possible.

It's just really hard for me and Lindsay to understand why she is so mean and hateful, that's all. I would think at a time like this a person would be kind and loving.

She's in pain Gary, it's tearing her up. I'm not saying it's right but it's her way of dealing with it. At a time like this she probably wants her mom and that obviously doesn't work. Don't try to understand it, it is what is. Everybody deals with situations like this in their own way.

Gary,Maureen doesnt realize what she is saying or doing is hurting you and Lindsay. She is in survival mode and stressed out and may never realize how hard things have been for you. Just hang in there and give her space when she needs it and hugs and support when you can. Her medical problems also dont help ,been there .More than anything she needs your understanding and support. You have our support ,we will help if we can.

...Not much I can do at this point........

I know you have to work Gary but being by her side, you don't have to say a word, just being by her side is probably the best thing you can do for her.

EDIT: It's like going to a funeral. The person has passed on, there is nothing you can do for them. You go to show your support for the loved ones that are still here.

Hank70SS
06-22-2010, 07:03 PM
.... and respect for the person that passed away.

Certainly, but you can also do that in your own private way. The important part is being there and the support your presence gives the family, loved ones. Just seeing you, even if they don't have time to spend with you makes a big difference. I've had more than one person tell me that. The fact the I was there meant a lot to them.
