Need advice on sound deadening

I am getting ready to replace the carpet in my '72 Chevelle and figure it would be a good time to install sound deadening. I am also thinking about doing the doors and possibly under the headliner at the same time. Thoughts? Experiences?
Thanks!

In my 72 truck we are going to use spray in bed liner in the cab and then a rubber mat over that .Our chevelle I used the regular insulation under the carpet but its going to be loud in it regardless as it is a convertible and the top is down most of the time.

If I were to do my car all over again I would scrap the factory sound deader and instead look into doing the entire interior in a dynamat type product. The tar paper stuff from the factory works I suppose but the more modern approach would definitely be worth considering for its excellent heat & sound reducing qualities.

I would have to imagine something line spray-in liner like John mentioned would work wonders as well.

We used the Dynamat when we redid my car. It was a really big difference. We used it in the doors and even on the ceiling. At the time it was installed we were looking at getting the A/C and figured that the any extra insillation would help. When we did our shopping, we got the best deal on Amazon.

Dynamat

What was the ballpark cost of using dynamite for everything, and did you put it in the trunk as well? I like the idea of getting a heat barrier as well. San Antonio has a lot of hot days, and my Chevelle is my daily driver. I put Vintage Air in it since it is not a convertible. :)

We did ours a couple of years ago, and I am sure that the prices are different. We did not put it in the trunk, wanted it painted.

I used a product from Eastwood, same rating as Dynamite, half the price. Easy to put in.

I'm losing it. When you install the sound deadener on the doors, did you install on the inner surface of the outer skin. Is there enough room to get your hands in there and does it interfere with window mechanisms?
