New LS3

My original plan was to build my car over 4-5 years. I'm accelerating my plans to two years. I can get a great deal on a GM crate LS3-525. My question is, how long can a motor sit and not run. Are there a number things I should do to keep it like new?

Thanks in advance
Perry

My self I would get oil in it. Turn the oil pump with a drill get it all oiled inside. Spray PB Blaster or get the boat fogging spray and put it in all the cylinders. Put plugs in the holes.

If it is going to sit a long time just turn it over every now and again so valve springs are not open all the time.

Main enemies of sitting are the valve springs loosing tension being open all the time. And rust in the cylinders.

Keep it stored reasonably dry and put oil in the cylinders from time to time.

I would oil everything well, loosen the valve springs, take the plugs out and spin it over by hand at least once a month and then put the plugs in..

Did you end buying the motor?
I bought the engine for my project and it sat for a loud 6 years before I fired it off for the first time.
When it came time to start it, I just disconnected the coils and cranked it until I got pressure. Reconnected the coils, primed the injectors and it fired right up. No issues.
