how to convert your LQx LMx to use an LS1 Alternator bracket
ok guys i got my LQ9 and i wanted to use an LS1 intake and all that stuff but then i got my bracket and i noticed the whole wasn't there for the alternator.
http://i114.photobucket.com/albums/n...chevelle/6.jpg (barrowed this picture from another site.) So i said well the spot is there why not make the whole. I was scared to death to do it but if i wanted to use the ls1 intake and all that good stuff so here are the tools you will need a drill i used 3 bits one small for the pilot hole one a little bit bigger and then an 11/32 bit a 10x1.50 plug tap http://i114.photobucket.com/albums/n...e/IMG_6954.jpg So what i did was bolted the bracket on with the bottom bolt and lined it up http://i114.photobucket.com/albums/n...e/IMG_6955.jpg http://i114.photobucket.com/albums/n...e/IMG_6956.jpg I took a very pointy pencil and lined it up in the center http://i114.photobucket.com/albums/n...e/IMG_6957.jpg once i marked it i measured how much i needed to drill http://i114.photobucket.com/albums/n...e/IMG_6959.jpg |
and once i did that i used some tape to mark the bits so i knew how much i needed to drill
http://i114.photobucket.com/albums/n...e/IMG_6960.jpg i didnt picture this but i drilled with a smaller bit first then a medium size bit then the 11/32 bit needed to tap the whole http://i114.photobucket.com/albums/n...e/IMG_6958.jpg once i got that done i tapped the whole with the 10x 1.5 tap http://i114.photobucket.com/albums/n...e/IMG_6963.jpg and then ended cleaned it with an air compressor and cleared out the and made sure nothing was left in there. here is what i ended up with http://i114.photobucket.com/albums/n...e/IMG_6965.jpg hope this will help everyone later on! |
Thanks Shaun.

I got dizzy just reading the title.
|
lol no problem Mrs but can you do me a favor and put your instead of you in the title :) and grandsport when you are older you will understand the joy and power of an LQX and LMX ;)
|
I am older and my OEM and NOS stuff is just fine for me.:D
|
Should be fixed Shaun. If you ever want to change the title I am pretty sure that you can do it by going to "edit" then scrolling down and go to "advanced". In the advanced section it should let you edit the title.
