Hi All, my name is Gregg Miller. My wife, Deb and I have a 1968 Chevelle SS396 convertible. We purchased it July 4 1990 in Rhode Island for my 40th birthday. We drove it home, and used it as it was for a couple years before starting a frame-off restoration, which we finished in the fall of 1994. It did not have the original engine or transmission when we got it, but I was able to find a 396ci engine that has a build date 4 months later than our car. over the years, we have upgraded the brakes, suspension, transmission and engine. Our car now sports that 1968 396ci engine block, bored 30 thousandths oversize, balanced rotating assembly with a Comp Cams hydraulic roller cam, Edelbrock Aluminum Heads and Air Gap intake, Harland Sharp Roller Rockers, Holley Terminator EFI, Accell HEI distributer, Vintage Air A/C, Zoom clutch and Tremec TKO600 5speed transmission. We did a disc brake conversion with Hotchkis tubular A arms, springs and rear axle locator arms. We drive this car everywhere, and have put over 75000 miles on it since we did the restoration, including 17 Hot Rod Power Tours, 7 of which were Long Hauls, but we're not done yet. We are going to Tour Route 66 this spring.
This is actually our 2nd 1968 Chevelle, as I had a 1968 Malibu 2door hardtop when we got married in 1971. Deb had a 1963 ImpalaSS at the time and we made a good pair. We still do!

wow Convss, sounds great. 75000 miles, it is getting used. that is great too. no use in putting all that money into it for it to sit in a garage and collect dust and waiting for the next owner to drive. I had a 68 Malibu in college and then traded it for a 73 Malibu cause it had air cond. today, I have a 69 Malibu. great story on your car.

It used to be much more fun, I used to say it is as much fun as you can have in a car with your clothes on, but it has gotten so big, and most venders aren't as generous as they used to be. Still, it is something to put on your bucket list.
