Alternator/bracket fitment issue...

Installed my alternator today, ran into a major clearance issue. The upper bracket doesn't seem correct, everything else lines up. The fan rubs the bracket, and the hole for the adjust is off quite a bit. All GM parts, but not original to the car.

Can you take a picture? Is the top bracket mounted on a stud or bolted down to the intake? Should be a stud but aluminum intakes are usually thicker and a stud may throw off the alignment.

I was up late losing sleep over it, did some research. It appears I have the wrong upper bracket.

It is on the factory stud, cast iron intake.

Now the hunt begins for the proper bracket. The style I need was mainly used in 71' & 72'. They changed slightly in 73'.

Well at least you know what the problem is. Most of the suppliers should have the correct one or you can pick up a cheap chrome one on fleabay

Found a complete set of original brackets with the hardware, and purchased them. Wasn't cheap, but nothing on this car has been cheap. (Go figure)

I found some 194 light bulbs for the dash online, they were cheap. Other than that, nope, nothing is cheap.

I have some "spares" as far as alternators go for this car. Dug them out yesterday, and I'll be damned if the resto vendor didn't apply the wrong finish to the fan and swap out my pulley for an incorrect part. ::facepalm::

I am guessing that I won't be driving this car by the end of January. Too much left to do, might as well figure on this summer instead.
