Priming the Engine?

The motor in the car hasn't ben fired in over 18 months. I pulled it a couple of months ago and replaced the oil pan gasket. So I had it turned upside down. Then reinstalled it in the car. I haven't put any oil in it yet. My question is should I get a priming tool and prime the engine? (Remove distributor and turn the oil pump) Or can I just put some oil in through the valve covers, a little into each cylinder and turn it over by hand using the flywheel to lube the cylinder walls? I don't think the engine is anything special but I do plan to drive it for at least a few months. Thanks

Shoot some WD-40 in the cylinders. Just in case it is dry. Spin the oil pump is a good idea. I usually spin it till I see oil pressure. Make sure the galleys are full.

Isn't necessary but it worth the time to do it.

Flat tappet cam??
I'd prime the heck out of it...using the correct oil. Even though it's been run before.
