1971 Chevrolet Chevelle
All 1971 Chevelles were redesigned with the new single headlight designs from the Monte Carlo and could be optioned with hood stripes and the cowl induction hood. With newer emission standards Gm responded by making all engines run on unleaded fuel and strived to meet every restrictive emission standard. Chevrolet also detuned all its engines and introduced two new entry level engines. The standard Chevelle engine was now a single exhaust two barrel - 350 V8, and optional was the 350 V8 4V with 270hp, the 402 engine previously known as a 396 was renamed the "Turbo Jet 400" and offered only 300hp. The LS6 454 was also no longer offered, and amazingly the LS5 454 returned with 365hp. 1971 Chevrolet Chevelle Production Numbers Model Number-Body/Style Number-Body Type & Seating-Factory Price-Shipping Weight-Total Production Chevelle Nomad Station Wagon Series 31 - Six-Cyl 31 36 4 Dr Nomad - 6P $2,997 3,632 lbs Chevelle Nomad Station Wagon Series 32 - V-8 32 36 4 Dr Nomad - 6P $3,097 3,746 lbs Chevelle Series 33 - Six-Cyl 33 69 4 Dr Sedan - 6P $2,677 3,210 lbs 33 37 2 Dr Sport Coupe $2,712 3,166 lbs Chevelle Series 34 - V-8 34 69 4 Dr Sedan - 6P $2,773 3,338 lbs 34 37 2 Dr Sport Coupe $2,807 3,296 lbs 34 46 4 Dr Greenbrier- 6P $3,340 3,882 lbs 34 36 4 Dr Greenbrier- 8P $3,228 3,820 lbs Chevelle Malibu Series 35 - Six-Cyl 35 69 4 Dr Sedan - 6P $2,851 3,250 lbs 35 37 2 Dr Sport Coupe - 6P $2,885 3,212 lbs Chevelle Malibu Series 36 - V-8 36 69 4 Dr Sedan - 6P $2,947 3,380 lbs 36 39 4 Dr Sport Sedan - 6P $3,052 3,450 lbs 36 37 2 Dr Sport Coupe - 6P $2,980 3,342 lbs 36 67 2 Dr Convertible - 6P $3,260 3,908 lbs 36 46 4 Dr Concours - 9P $3,450 3,864 lbs 36 36 4 Dr Concours - 6P $3,337 3,864 lbs Malibu Concours Estate Series 38 - V-8 38 46 4 Dr Station Wagon - 9P $3,626 3,944 lbs 38 36 4 Dr Station Wagon - 6P $3,514 3,892 lbs Chevelle Heavy Chevy - V8 + VF3 Option Package 34 37 2 Dr Sport Coupe - 6P $2,804 3,260 lbs Chevelle Malibu Heavy Chevy - V-8 + VF3 Option Package 36 37 2 Dr Sport Coupe - 6P $2,951 3,307 327,159 Chevelles were produced 23,417 6-Cyl and 303,742 V-8 Wagons Six-Cyl = 2,800 (rounded off) and V-8 = 39,500 (rounded off) 6,727 vehicles were produced with the Heavy Chevy package Around 80,000 cars were equipped with the SS package.
