1971 Chevelle, Malibu, Nomad, Heavy Chevy Info

1971 Chevrolet Chevelle

All 1971 Chevelles were redesigned with the new single headlight designs from the Monte Carlo and could be optioned with hood stripes and the cowl induction hood. With newer emission standards Gm responded by making all engines run on unleaded fuel and strived to meet every restrictive emission standard. Chevrolet also detuned all its engines and introduced two new entry level engines. The standard Chevelle engine was now a single exhaust two barrel - 350 V8, and optional was the 350 V8 4V with 270hp, the 402 engine previously known as a 396 was renamed the "Turbo Jet 400" and offered only 300hp. The LS6 454 was also no longer offered, and amazingly the LS5 454 returned with 365hp.
