Should Chevellabration be moved to October ?

At the awards banquet on Saturday, Chuck posed this question to the crowd.

Should Chevellabration be moved to October ?

What do you think ?

In the South schools are out in early June. Having CB in October would not allow kids to attend. Also, October in the South is unprecitable, it can be very hot or cold. I would rather be hot than cold.

Bill the heat was too much ! I think that maybe Chuck should think about even rotating years. One year October, the next June. It was hard for me because David was unable to do some of the things with me because of the heat.

October wont work for me as we will be at cruisin the coast at that time and the weather is unpredictable then as well .I hope he leaves it alone .I think it will hurt attendance as well due to other events going on in October.

I know with every car show there are things that interfere. And for those who have been going to Chevellabration for many years, they have scheduled the other shows or work around the show.

For me, the taking of kids out of school for 3 days was no big deal, the traveling (other than the cost of gas) was something that we expected. But the heat was hash.

Would I go again in June...yes
Would I go again in October.....yes

Really to me it does not matter. I took my son out of school for the trip. He has school til the end of this week.

On the Team Chevelle we have been discussing a bunch of items. First, misting tents could do wonders as well as fans etc. How about a differnt part of the park where there is more shade. Another park close by is also an idea. The NCOA died for many reasons, the main one being the shows were such a strain on Mark because he moved the shows around to different venues, great idea but it burned him out.

My kids missed the last 2 days of school, hech they were just watching movies anyway but October is a much busier time with clubs, sports etc. Also, the Midwest show and Carolina Shows are in Sept and early Oct.

We make a vacation out of the trips to CB, I am still in the Best Western in Goodlettsville typing this but we are leaving very early in the morning to head home. We went to Mammoth Cave today.BTW, it was 85 here today and low humidity, June in the South is a toss up. We had 85 in December a couple of years ago.

As someone who tends to tear my Chevelle apart every winter, and not get it together by spring/early-summer, I'd be more likely to attend a fall event...

Ms Grumpy 06-14-2011 06:52 PM

Derek I will agree that it was tough getting everything together to make it to CB11. We got the trans in just the week before, and the brakes the week before that. I will tell you that if you have "iffy" brakes, I would not even consider going on the cruise to the track. With the brakes I had before the upgrade, I would have had issues.

Mrs Grumpy ,who are you kidding ? You got issues alright .
