Replacement Engine Opinion
The engine that came in my Chevelle isn't original and is very tired. I looked into have it rebuilt but it ended up being a lot more than I thought it would be. My fallback plan is to purchase an engine from ATK. Then I might try to rebuild the original on my own. Here are the 4 I'm considering. I was hoping for a few opinions from people who are more knowledgeable about motors than I am. Let me know what you think.

I guess that my questions would be: what are you looking for? Cruiser, go fast? Budget?
http://paceperformance.com/i-6484484...te-engine.html That is a great cruiser engine. Runs on 87 octane and idles smooth. |
For the ones you show I spent less then that on my rebuild. I also got a better deal because I payed in cash. I think total mine ran around 2500 with a roller came in it.

I priced out a rebuild and work machining it's $6500. I'm going with the stroker.

On the specs for the 383 it says externaly balanced.
But on the parts list it says internal balance 8 in balancer ? |
Externally balanced rear, internally balanced front. Apparently that's how it is with all the GM small blocks after 1989. Engine came yesterday.
