I only have my shift light set for 5,000 RPM's and with the 2:20 low of the close ratio that was in the car before it took forever to reach the 5,000 RPM's. With the 2:56 low it hits a lot faster and if it had the 2:98 first gear it would even be better. I think with a 2:98 first gear it would have felt like I had 4:88's in the rear. All and all I'm still satisfied with the M22W. I'm a lot older now and don't do has much of the spirited driving as I did in my younger days if you know what I mean.
My 69' isn't per se' "heavy." But, it will be a bit underpowered. (Basically stock L48 350) I know that I could swap to a steeper set of gears, but I'd rather not. I would like this car to be able to cruise a little. Hence why I feel that the gearing of the Z trans to be a perfect fit.
