My humble opinion... keep the stock frame and buy a suspension setup from either Hotchkis or DSE. Then box the frame, either with a premade kit or do your own.

A good friend of mine has the Hotchkis kit on his 72' C10 with a home boxed frame. It really handles well - you almost forget that it's a pickup truck. He also added 13" Baer brakes and the appropriate rolling stock.
