Default Wheel lug nuts question

Ok so I have a set of torque thrust wheels. My driver side rear wheel lugs keep getting loose on me. I was told my wheel need acorn lug nuts but a friend of mine feels that I need the ones that have the washers. I searched online and it says acorn lugs. Anyone know how to tell the difference?

Do the wheel lug holes have a large chamfer (taper seat) or a flat face?

The earlier torque thrusts came with flat washer type nuts.
the later ones have acorn taper seat style nuts.

i have 1/2 studs already. and this one is an acorn taper wheel. I was thinking if i can take it to get machined to used the washer type with the lug that looks like this

but i am not sure what to do. i love the wheels but i am ready to just put the other wheels on and call it a day
