Default Advice on shocks and sway bars

I just bought a stock '65 Chevelle Malibu that's in really good condition. However, I've forgotten how crappy they really handle on the road compared to new vehicles. I've got some KYB shocks and Summit sway bars in mind but not sure if that's the best route for me. Any advice would be great.
Thanks,
Wes

Not cheap but I put in the stage 2 kit from UMI. Car handles great! Corners flat, and the ride isn’t too firm. They also sell the sway bars and shocks separately but don’t know how they would be without the rest of the kit.
