Default what in the. ...again??

Ok I am officially lost! Driving the car tonight for trunk or treat and it did it again. Started hurking and jerking on me and then shut off on me. The gas tank is full and again fuel pump is showing me zero at the gauge. What am I doing wrong here? 2 fuel pumps on less then 150 miles. I am lost!!

Check the carb. Hit the gas are the accelerator pumps squirting? If the gauge is showing empty on a full tank it sounds like a electrical issue issue. Like a main power feed is intermittently cutting out.

What I meant was see if it has gas in the carb. If it does start looking at spark issues. It is just odd you would keep killing fuel pumps they last forever.

I would be checking the fuel pump rod that is in the engine. See if it is freely moving in and out. If it sticks in the bore it isn't pumping.
Pulling the tank and checking the rubber hoses for cracks, suckin air. Looking in the tank for contaminates. Gum parafin is what old 60's gas had that clogged the tanks. Check the fuel lines for rust. Also for possibly suckin air.
I would sure take anything before the pump apart and be inspecting it all. Take the fuel filter apart and see if there is rust or shavings in it. Anything that would destroy the diaphragm or make the check valve stick open.

Most likely the pump you got failed. Get one from GM when you replace it.

gas tank is new all the lines are brand new and all of the rubber hoses have ss braided lines also all brand new. I am thinking its bad pump but how come its going from 8.5 psi down to 0 psi. i am starting to think my push rod is to long and might be over pressing the pump. what do you guys think?

Shaun, it sounds like you might be right about the push rod. It is not the stock rod is it?

I don't let things go. I would be peeling the pump apart find out why it is failing.
I have driven some junk in my time. I have had them leak but never not pump.
