Default under the hood and under the trunk

since i am doing all the door jams and stuff that doesn't get seen very often i was wondering about the trunk and the hood. Does the bottom of the trunk lid and the hood get painted the same color or does the trunk get the spatter paint and the hood gets black paint? Or should i ask since i am going to be painting the car should i just paint them to match or paint them black?

The trunk lid the same color of the car for sure, the under hood I would think is your preference.

yeah that is what i thought. I asked because under the trunk its painted black and under the hood is painted black. I was not sure if that is the way it should be. I am going to paint them both the body color. Now i am wondering if i should paint my firewall and cowls to match the body color as well or if i should leave it black

Under hood is black. Except for the small lip around the edge.

If you paint the firewall that gold color, it will be very hard to keep clean. Under trunklid paint same color as car. Then do your spatter paint in the trunk. Under hood and firewall paint it a gloss black, same with inner fenders and radiator support.

I agree with Ken, I fought with my father on his truck. I tried my best to get him to do more of the under hood in satin black. It hides the dirt and engine fumes MUCH better. Yes it looks smooth all painted out, but it is a pain to clean - and we do build these vehicles to drive, don't we?

Stuff called Hot Rod Black is a satin finish that mimics factory color. But it washes clean with just water. Just hit it with a hose. That is what I used on everything. Under the hood, frame, wheelwells etc etc.
Lower color is it, and gloss on dash for comparison.
