Default rust on ceramic headers

hello. I have a 69 Malibu with 350 that threw a rod last weekend and is currently out of the car to get worked on.

the headers, are ceramic, but I noticed spots of surface rust. I would like to do something before I have them put back on once engine is done, can I take like SOS pad or light sandpaper to rub that rust off, or am I doing more harm than good on doing that?

I would not use sandpaper or an SOS pad. I would use some very fine steel wool(000 or more) and some WD40. Spray a little WD on the wool and a little on the header. Works real good for cleaning chrome too.

The problem with coated headers is they are rusted before
the coating is applied.
I had the same problem with headman lifetime waranty headers.
When i called them i was told thats what you get in florida....your on your own.
Try some HOOKER stainless steel headers.
