Nah..... Bill seems to be able to flip his about every 6 months. I'm in way over my head on a single car! I keep telling myself, this is the last project. AND Unless I break something I truly intend on enjoying the car for a while after this is all done!

My Daughter and her husband flew in from Orlando Florida today for my sons wedding on Friday and they have not been here since I finished the car. Took the car out tonight for the first time in over a month and ran it throught some gears. Felt good to have it out of the garage. I have been working out of town for the last 6 weeks so it has been covered up for way to long.

Not much new to see... put the brake lines back in place and reinstalled the clutch for bracket. Shooting for Sunday to install the engine and transmission.

Spent all morning and most of the afternoon getting the engine and transmission ready to go back in the car tomorrow. Cleaned some parts, hunted down fasteners, etc. All the usual things that we neglect to do in the process.

Started my day off with a pipe plug in the cylinder head that wouldn't budge. It rounded off inside. Tried to chase it with a chisel, bigger mess. Had to drill it out in steps, 3/8 -> 1/2 -> 9/16. Then I folded it from the top center with the chisel. I was actually able to grab it and unthread it by hand once it started to fold. I had the correct tap, so I cleaned the threads and installed the temp sender. I was highly irked, what a waste of time. I wonder why the machine shop neglected to remove it?

Oh, ... well, ...that's easy. They saw it starting to round and just left it for you. Your work looks great. I see you're going for a "correct" restoration. I've never had the will power for that.

Thanks Alan, that is a real compliment coming from you. I wish I had your metal work skills, I am still an amateur at 33. I know it takes years to acquire those skills.

My car is "stock appearing." It will idle like "stock", has a "stock" stroke crankshaft, "stock" exhaust manifolds, etc. But, should run well into the 13's on repop poly glass tires. I've built it to look as good as I can get it with my limited work space and resources, and to race in the pure stock drags. When I finally get myself out of this financial slump and get another good job - I hope to build a real stock appearing car for the series. The SA cars have looser rules, that allow stroker engines, head & intake porting, increased compression, roller camshafts, etc. A few of them have gone 9's with stock exhaust manifolds and poly glass tires.

Worked on tuning the transmission shift points via a laptop.

This 4L80 is a pretty sweet deal! I love being able to make this thing shift as soft and easy as I want when cruising to chirping my big 295 rear tires is as simple as changing a curve on a graph.
