i so badly want to hear my chevelle running!
but i am scared to death of hearing this 454 start because i might fall in love with it..lol well the reason why i am posting is because i am to the point where all i need to do is wire it, put oil in it get some gas to the fuel pump and then to the carb, lower rad hose and coolant. so i think! I know i am missing some stuff but i just dont know what i am missing. i am going to post up some pictures now and some when i get home so i can have people chime in on what i am missing and what i need to get
so what does it look like i am missing here? doesnt the carb get a spring? and a bracket that holds the throttle cable right? does the spring mount on that for the carb to return to closed status? i am looking for new valve covers and hard ware and i want some kind of wire loom to hold it in a neater manner any ideas?

Based on the look of your motor I would probably get some cheater valve covers in the original style and use the built in wire looms which attach directly to the valve cover.
Originally there was a bracket that mounted to the intake for the carb return spring as seen below by the orange triangular shaped piece with a hole in the middle Today you can find quite a few variations with the return spring built in. My favorite and the one I use on my motor is the Holley bracket (summit & jegs make their own which are less expensive).

I thought the same thing Ric. I think with the carb at that angle you are going to create more problems than anything else (Throttle & trans cable binding, throttle return spring mounting location, possible fuel line to alternator clearance issues)

I agree, there are enough issues without all that added stuff. I'd be changing it as well.
