Default chrome or stainless

i am looking to buy chrome or stainless inserts for under the backside of the hood an good places? 72 chevelle

Welcome and I believe they are stainless . Best place to buy would depend on where you live ,find a supplier near your home state .You might also ask on here as someone might have a good used one ,I think they are the same from 68 through 72 but someone will correct me if Im wrong .

If you're referring to the trim at the bottom of the windshield, yes it is stainless. If you can find a used one that has not been gouged up it can be polished to look like new.

A little time and elbow grease it can be polished. Like Hank said if it doesn't have deep scratches in it you can redo it. These are my originals I took the dents out of them and polished.

i mean under the hood in the engine comp/ i know its not stock but i think it would loook good, also only 70-72 are the same

Can you give us a better clue as to what you're talking about. Maybe the grilles that go into top of cowl, which were not stock on Chevelles.

A picture sure would help.

the cowl openings under the hood i saw one at a show that had stainless inserts in them and looked realy good , usually just has insulation.

I've never seen one with insulation in them. Those openings allow air to flow to the lower vents, in the kick panels. Sorry, never seen one with stainless or chrome grilles either.
