Default 402/375 th400

What would you say was the value of an original TH400 CW code from a 1970 L78 Nova? Included are the flywheel, torque converter, shifter, xmember, etc, and it should be rebuilt.

Did not know that the L78 had a special 400 trans and it was identifiable. I would say it is not worth anything more than any TH400 that needs to be rebuild.

Is it Nova only? Or was that same coded TH400 also used in Chevelles and Camaros? Someone building a correct car will pay more. My guess, 2-3 times more than a garden variety version.

What code makes it a L78 400?

The reason I'm asking is that I worked at GM Hydrmatic transmission plant in the mid 70's (ran a testing Dyno) and do not remember a special code TH 400.

The high performance cars did have a different designation. I believe CX was another one that people look for. L78, L72, LS6 cars all had a different coded transmission than the lower HP cars. I believe the main difference is the shift governor and torque converter.
