Here is a reasonable-priced cam that will do the job, and about the biggest I would run in the stock 307.

It will give a little chop at idle and help keep the low end grunt. I prefer the bigger split to help out the weak exhaust runner flow.

Well, yes and no. A 307 is a 283 with a 327 crank. The long stroke gave it more torque, but the very small bore size lost a ton of horsepower. A 307 is a fantastic street cruiser and will get great gas mileage, but it's no power house. It all depends on what you want to do with the car. Since a crank kit costs the same whether you use a stroker kit as a stock set up, it's silly to even build a 350 now-a-days. Throw a cam, lifters, oil pump, timing chain and new gaskets in it and you'll be good for another couple years. Save you pennies and buy something you won't outgrow for a while.

I agree, the .440 summit cam would be a great choice for your car.
