Default SBC Cam Selected

The top end of my 355 is apart, long story...bottom line I need a new cam...this was just confirmed yesterday, by finding a cupped lifter.

Anyways, here's the engine:
2 bolt 1974 block
stock bottom end with rebuilder dished/browed pistons about .032" in the hole
RPM intake, 600 holley vac sec
1-5/8" mid length headers 2-1/4" pipe to turned down glasspacks
TH350 with 2000 stall
About 9.8:1 static compression

The heads are GM 601 heads off an early 80s 305cid...with a lot of porting. They still have stock 1.84/1.50 valves in them, and on my engine, with my old cam, were still pulling at 6400 rpms. That cam claimed good power from 2000-4800 rpm. It was a blue racer 284H, 218/218 .450/.450 @ .050 on 110 LSA. Really lazy lobes, too, but idled nice, and pulled pretty good over 6000, too.

This new cam, the one I have picked to replace it is a Howard's cam. Maybe some of you guys from waaaaay up there in the Great Lakes has used them before. I have heard great things about their stuff. Made in the USA too. Right in Wisconsin.

Anyways the cam:
Grind # 110991 Street/Strip, Needs Headers, 4bbl & Low gears recommended

Advertised Duration: 284/284
Duration at .050": 220/220
Lift with 1.5 rocker: .470/.470
LSA: 108
ICL: 104
Overlap: 68 degrees
Requires 100# seat and 300# open, exactly what my heads have in them right now.

It should have real good low end form the short duration and earlier intake closing, and the overlap should keep it pulling on the top end right?

What do you think?

that cam looks good, well suited to your engine, the tight lsa will make it peakier than one with a wider lsa. Your low end will be pretty good cuz the low intake centerline. I like that cam it looks good. It'll probably sound better than your old cam too.
