Default Starter help please.

I have been having infrequent starting problems lately. I first had a problem with my car starting at the drag strip in Tennessee. At that time we thought that we actually had a problem with the starter getting too hot, and since I didn't have a heat shield we figured that it was a heat problem. Since then, it has happened more frequently and it is not always when the car is warm. We have looked at it being a wiring problem, but we have power to everything, cannot find a problem there.

It was pointed out to us that maybe it is the starter, which is new and still under warranty. Even if it is I am still considering changing the starter because it is so close to the header.

I have a friend who has
1 Tilton Super HD Starter for $150.00 (used a couple times)
&
1 Auto Electric 2.25 hp Starter for $90.00 (new)

Now I know of people who have used the Tilton mini starters and liked them. I am not aware of the Auto Electric.

I would appreciate any input that anyone has. Thanks.

I always use the mini starters that were used in a mid '90s Chevy pickup. Work great...even on an 11 to 1 CR 540. Got one right now on the 496 in my '67.
Plenty of clearance for headers.
