Installed a completely rebuilt SMI Qjet carb that a Team Chevelle carb guru buddy that lives in Indiana has built for me. Built to my specific engine specs...the big block now runs PERFECT!!!
Pulling a rock steady 16" of vacuum at idle now.
Always wished I knew more about Qjet carbs...

He really doesn't do them anymore...did mine as a huge favor John.
I manufactured some tooling for him a few years ago and I guess he felt he owed me. He didn't owe me anything...I owe him!!!
What do you have a Qjet on?? I know the truck and convert have Edelbrocks.
I've got the Summit rebuilt carb that I bought a month ago just to be able to drive the wagon around until the other one was returned.
You're welcome to try out that one. Works fine.

Removed the front bumper, brackets, and grille this morning. Preparing to pull the rest of the front clip, then the engine and transmission.

Mark the front clip where it is now by the doors so you can align the fenders back up easier.

No need for that Ray, the current gaps are all wrong. (Too small) That's part of the reason it's coming back apart. The core support bushings are shot as well. Everything has to be realigned. At the same time I will be swapping out the domed hood for a cowl induction hood.

I was so busy that I didn't have time to even think about my car. I left my house at 8am and just got home and it's 10:30pm. Ugh....

Hood and front fenders are off. Got the door gaps mostly sorted out. Engine, transmission, and core support will all be removed Saturday.

Got called into work Saturday, so nothing got done over the weekend. Off today, but my arm is incredibly sore. I managed to drain the coolant and remove the core support one piece with the radiator and condenser still attached. I undid all of the electrical and vacuum connections as well.

I do not have another day off until Saturday, but there is tropical storm on the way. Looking like I won't get to it again until next Tuesday.
