Default I hate RTV!!

Changed the trans fluid and filter this morning and I guess the previous owner loved RTV. There was no gasket on the trans pan, just a ton of gasket maker gooped all over the place. Would have taken me half the time to do the job, but had to scrap all that crap off!! Just venting a little, oh and the previous owner did the same thing on the water housing when I changed the thermostat, no gasket just a ton of RTV. Why can't people just do things the right way??!!

That's all they use on many parts in newer cars, no gaskets just RTV.

I use both also, but not to the point that the RTV is oozing out the sides of what I'm putting back together.
