Default Got a line on a LS1

Found a LS1 long block, out of a Trans am near by. It smokes but I think I can get it pretty cheap. Maybe 2-400

I would probably just tear it down and rebuild it. Think it would be worth it ?

Dave,
Although the price isn't too bad, unless that long block is replacing an existing LS, I'd highly recommend trying to buy a complete drop out engine. All those brackets, pulleys, and little accessories you'll need for a swap really add up.
Not to mention needing a wiring harness and ECM unit...

I agree with Bill... too many little things that would really add up quickly to start with just a long block.

That is a good price though.

Since I'm starting out from square 1 on my build, the ls engines have caught my attention. I'd like to take my car on a road trips when it's complete. I'm just trying to gather the total cost of this swap. Does any 1 have any ideas? In my research I've saw oil pan clearne issues, power steering pump clearance, & a few more issues. I'm still a ways out for my engine , but curious of what's involved in this swap & is it worth it?

ls1 motors blown got for 1000 if you can get an ls1 for 400 buck i would think twice. I know you can get an LQ9/LQ4 for 1000 complete. if we are talking about the new style LS1 motors
