Good choice on the filter, I use WIX filters on all our vehicles. Delo 10-40, that have the higher ZDDP? I have a roller cam so don't keep up on all the oils with high ZDDP levels. You have flat tappet?

If you've got a flat tappet cam, I'd recommend adding some ZDDP Plus oil additive.
That's what I've been using on my flat lifter motors. The Delo & Rotella oils have changed.

Valvoline VR1 oil has been verified to have the proper levels of zddp for hydraulic flat tappet cammed engines.
I use Elgin's zddp additive. |

Thanks. Not a flat tappet. Others told me the Delo is in fact the one with the higher levels of Zorro PP.
I just want to make sure i'm using the right stuff. Everybody speaks highly of the Wix/NAPA filters. I got #1069 I remember back in the day buying reclaimed oil by the gallon from the grocery store!! Oh boy...... Randy

I think the Delo 15w40 is what you want. The diesel oil is the one with more zddp.

Synthetic oil is good, you plan on driving it a few hundred miles a day? Seriously synthetic is good but I'm not going to leave it in my car for 2 years. So if I'm going to change the oil in the fall or spring with only a few thousand miles on it I'll stick with dino oil. Both my Chevy truck and car tell me when to change the oil and that's usually around 7,000 miles. I think dino oil will hold up quite well in the Chevelle for a couple thousand miles and cost a heck of a lot less.
