Default 70 fenders

Hey guys and girls. My name is jimmy I just joined the forums so I'm full of questions so forgive me if I sound like an idiot at some point but I have a question about front fenders. Are all fenders interchangeable on 70-72 chevelles? I have a 70 that I have since high school that I am now getting into more of the resto thing. I used to drag race it every weekend and the car was always good looking Enuff for that so I never put much thought into making the body perfect. Over time I notice the gap between the passenger door and fender started closing until it ended up just about hitting. Then I noticed the fender has an outward bow to it. Is there slight differences between yrs or maybe an el camino fender that a previous owner put on? The frame too my eye and a few measurements appears to be straight but it doesn't explain the outward bow that the drivers side does not have.

71 & 72 fenders are the same.
The 70 fender is a one year only deal...with the cutout for the side marker light.
And El Camino/wagon fenders are different than the coupe/sedan ones.

No they're not. 70 has the side marker light in the fender, 71, 72 do not. 71, 72 fenders will fit but you'd lose the side marker light. Wagon and El Camino fenders are different than the 2 door coupe.

Oh, welcome to the forum Jimmy.

Check for wear on the lower door hinge. In response to your door fender gap closing up over time. Door sag.

Oh, welcome to the forum Jimmy.
Thank you guys for getting back to me so quick. Now the el camino and the wagon fenders are completely different like not even close or could they be made to fit with a little fab work.

Not even close. Different curve on them front and back. The headlight bezel on the chevelle is more straight down by the fender and on the Elcamino/wagon fender it is curved. It would be a lot of work to make them fit correctly. The elcamino in 70 still had a wing window so the door was also different.

It's strange because the pass fender between the door and the wheel well has a bow in it like it was squeezed in there and the bow is the result of a poor fit of something that does not belong
