Default Just bought Stereo Equipment

Recently, a close friend died. He requested I take the stereo out of his driver and put it in my 68 Chevelle. The car was sold and the new owner asked if I would consider a gift card from the same place my friend bought his stereo equipment rather than rip out the stereo. I figured my friend would have approved and bought the following: Kenwood head with all the bells and whistles 50w x 4, Kicker 6x9 for the back, 6 inch kickers for the kick panels, and a Kicker sub. I have a amp that will work. I'm used to the old way where you just hook up speakers to the head. Can I hook up speakers AND the sub through the amp or just should I hook up the sub through the amp and hook the regular speakers through the head? The amp is a MTX Thunder 4160 at a peak of 200 watts. My speakers run from 150-250 amps. What should I do?

in all of my cars i use to have the speakers hooked up to amps. but now in my rx7 i only have my sub hooked up to a very powerful amp and the inside speakers are just hooked up to the headunit like normal.

I am sorry to say, but you should have taken the old stereo out. I bought a new system, with an "older" looking radio. And it is awful ! It is hard to adjust, and loses channels all the time. I should have taken it back, but it has been too long now. Sorry just my rant.

Ms Grumpy are you talking about something like this:

I've had my eye on the 630 since I primarily use my ipod and not the radio when I drive. Are these a bad deal?

Mine is not that exact one, but similar. I have the i-pod connection on mine too. But I am just not happy with the reception and in general it was not the best decision. I will replace it somewhere down the road, but for now I will live with it. Especially since the rumble of my car, till I replace the exhaust with a quieter one, is louder than the radio most of the time.

Those radios are JUNK!!! Sorry to be so blunt but the sound quality and reception is crap.
I know first hand...
Ausley's has a much better radio available that are a direct fit for Chevelles.

Thanks for the heads up on the junk radio before I bought it! I'll look at the one on Ausley's and probably pick it up when I get there.
