Default Memorial Day

Let us not forget the ones who gave up everything for us today.

We spent the day at The Henry Ford and Greenfield Village today. All weekend long they had Civil War reenactments, and today was no different. All the grounds of Greenfield Village were covered with tents where the soldiers and their families spent the weekend.

They had a beautiful ceremony on the grounds in the middle of the village.

At one point during the ceremonty they brought out a flag that was actually used in battle during a war. The flag was brand new at the beginning of the day. By the end of the day it was tattered and torn.

Then they asked all the Veterans on the field to come forward and the crowd applauded. Then they invited all the Military Veterans in the crowd to come onto the field, and then all active Military were invited onto the field. It was beautiful because the crowd applauded them for a very long time.

After the Military left the field there was a ceremony where the women dressed in period attire came forward and placed flowers at the base of a wreath in memory of all the soldiers lost.

Sorry for the grainy pictures. I took them with my cell phone.
