Default new member and already a question

I apologize in advance for not doing an introduction first but I am looking to buy a 67 SS Chevelle and up on the lift there is an unknown part I have never seen before..Battery cable running to and from it. Does anyone know what this thing is? TIA

There is nothing above it that I can feel..maybe a small fastener between the carpet and floor pan but I can't feel it. No marking that I can see on whatever it is . Someone went to the trouble of installing it but no idea why...would appreciate any ideas..thanks!!

It looks like a hidden battery disconnect. What does the seller say?

I thought it was a disconnect too and may very well be but I don't see how to work it. The seller has no idea either..
Thank you for the reply!

So there is no handle under the passenger seat?
How many wires go to it? Just the two large ones or is there also a small gauge wire we can’t see in the pic?

I pulled the carpet back and looks like you guys were right!
It is a battery disconnect but someone removed the handle and carpeted over the mounting screws. LOL
Thanks for caring enough to reply help
