Default Oil changes

Here is a question for you, I am curious how often people change their oil when they are only driving the cars minimal miles a year (lets' say under 3K)? I am also curious what oils those of you prefer, brand and weight.

I change both of mine at the beginning of the season and use 20-50 Vavoline Racing oil for the Zinc factor and use a K&N Oil filter.

I go with, 3K miles or 6 months... whatever comes first. I like 20W50 for the really hot months here. I run it a little thinner in the cooler months. (Rotella T usually) I used to prefer AC filters, but have recently been swayed to use Puralator.

Once a year. Castrol GTX 20W50 with added zinc. AC or Wix filter. NEVER use the orange canister of death on these old cars.

Seems pretty consistent. I had thought of changing twice a year but seems once a year is pretty common. Thanks for the input. Oh- what about coolant? every few years?

How are you going to store the car during the winter? If it's going to sit idle a lot, I would possibly consider checking & flushing the coolant yearly. But, if it will be in a heated garage, started and allowed to reach operating temp a few times over the winter - leave it alone.

I change mine every 3500 miles with 20/50 Valvoline Racing Oil which equals about 3 or 4 times a year .

The seller used to have it kept in a conditioned garage but unfortunately I don't have that luxury and will have to keep it in a NON-conditioned garage. However, I plan to take it out during the colder months probably two or three times a month, so it will never really sit for extended periods. In Maryland, winters aren't so bad most the time. It will be very interesting to see how it starts in colder weather. I've only had the car about a month and am still learning much about it's characteristics.

Same here, I use the K&N filter because they are much tougher than any factory filter. I have popped a NAPA Gold and a Fram oil filters from high cold pressure. I change the oil whenever it starts to look dirty, twice over the past year, ironically the exact same time my filters popped dumping 9 quarts of oil on the garage floor!
