Engine Pad number VS VIN on car
question. just got a 69 Malibu. 350 engine. seller said match numbers.
took to KS hwy patrol for inspection to get tags, and all numbers match except the last digit. block as a 3, and car VIN a 4. they went ahead and okd it, but does this happen often? they said may happen in stamping process. all the other numbers matched, so would seem unlikely that it wouldn't be numbers matching correct? was wondering.thanks |

Most likely a stamping error in the plant. Done by hand so easy to get it wrong. Very unlikely someone would restamp with the wrong # or that you have the engine out of a different car that is 1 number off.

question. I cannot locate in the stuff I printed off matching VIN to engine. my engine is 19B37544. I cannot find what 350 engine it is, 255 horse or 300. the 37514 matches the VIN on the car, so what would a 19B engine stamp be? thanks

What is the Alpha code stamped on the engine pad ? It's another series of stampings that is NOT the VIN.
