Default Another fun day

Streets were plowed the other day, all nice and clean.Yesterday we decided we would go fill the motorhome with gas and park it closer to the house for the day so we could start packing it. No start, hit the key and the voltage gauge dropped to around 9 volts. I had just put a brand new battery in last week, 1000 CA, 800 CCA and ran the engine then. Checked the connections, it has a brass stud for multiple cables on the + side mount terminal, it was stripped. Great, that's an easy fix, ran up to the parts store and bought another. Got it good and snug, no start. Put in another fully charged battery, no start. Has an AUX start button that jumps the 2 6 volt golf cart batteries to the engine battery, no start. Climbed underneath through the snow and pulled the starter.

After plowing the snow today I put in a new starter. Damn I'm glad it's a small high torque starter and not a big boat anchor like the one on the Chevelle. My fingers are still numb but that was it, fired right up. Supposed to be colder the next few days so figured get it done today, sun was out, could be worse. I could actually see what I was doing today. Man I can't wait to get out of here. I usually don't mind winter that much put this one sucks big time.

Over 70" of snow, I don't remember the last time we hit freezing temps. Daytime average, it should be in low 30's above freezing. Supposed to be -5 overnight, high of 18 tomorrow. This one is already in the record books and going for more records.

It's in the low 80's in southern FL where we're headed, I want out of here. So glad that starter fixed the problem. If not I didn't know what to do next except cancel our trip.

Don't cancel your trip. Just send us some of that warm weather when you get down there. PLEASE.......

We don't plan on canceling. We may leave a day or 2 early or late depending on weather. Ran the generator in the motorhome today, turned on some electric heaters, fired up the furnace to warm it up some. Then we did some cleaning, hasn't been used in awhile. Then loaded up everything we could, stuff that won't freeze over the next few days. When we were done I shut down the gen and changed the oil in it. Changed the engine oil, filter and lubed the chassis a couple months ago. I'll plug into the house and run the furnace for a day before we leave so we can load up the rest of the stuff.

Watch for FedEx Nancy, I'll pack up some warm air and overnight it to you as soon as we run into some.
