Just got news theres more metal shavings in the oil then I would like.
Not jumping to conclusions but if there is more damage, then I am considering stroking this motor. I am going to show how little I know about motors with my next question.

I know the entire rotating assembly would have to be changed but could I reuse any of the old parts. Heads ? Thanks

Dave

You can buy stroker kits, with everything in them. I kind of lean towards using GM parts, but Eagle ans Scat both make kits.

You'll definitely be able to use your top end the way it is...carb, intake, valvetrain, distributor.

Ha Ha, pulling this thread out of the weeds !! I saw this car today sitting in the garage....Nice looking ride Grumpy Anyway, did you end up stroking the motor ?? It's not unusual too see alot of metal "slivers" or "shavings" after a fresh rebuild in the oil. Now if they are larger "chunks" and you see perhaps some copper mixed in there, then I'd be worrying . Nice car though man !!!

Thanks GD. Just one correction to your post. The car is actually mine.

Here is a link to what we actually did with the motor.
