Default ?Windshield antenna or not?

Before I go buy a new windshield. I was wondering about radio antennas. Is there a better option than a antenna in the glass? I like that idea (clean look), but have heard they suck for reception.
Whats my other options for antennas?
I do know of some small hidden antennas I use in the motorcycle industry that we hide in the fairings of the touring bikes. They even have decent reception. I could hide it in the inside of the dash.
Comments, suggestions appreciated.

My antenna is inside the windshield and have no problems with reception .I put a hidden antenna in my 55 Bel Air and was not happy with the reception at all and went back to the fender mounted one .

My first Chevelle had an hidden antenna under the dash. The one I'm doing now will have it in the windshield. These car just don't look right with a fender mounted antenna on them.

Mine is in the windshield, works okay in some places. We're pretty far from any of the radio towers so reception here isn't the best anyway.

I have 2 vehicles with In-glass antennas. Both my black Chevelle and my K5 Blazer have antennas like that and they work great. it also makes for good conversation when someone that has never seen one notices it in the glass and can't believe they had that technology

I'm going satellite, so no fm antennae needed.
