Default Need trans ideas.

Im about to put in a 454/475 HP BB in my 71' and I have a TH 350/3 speed tranny that i want to rebuild for this motor. Just wondering if anyone has any ideas for stall converter and shift kit.

Th 350 will work just fine, but if it were me I would go with a TH400 if you are going to rebuild one. What are you going to use the car for? What cam is in the motor? Most shift kits can be adjusted from normal to shifting hard if you want it too. I'm not an expert in this area at all. I got a used TH400 and with a friends help rebuilt it myself, total cost was only about $400. A friend of mine has a roller cam built 454 , TH350 and is using a stall converter 32-3500 converter with 4.11 gears.

hey man thanks for the info. you seem to have answers to all my questions! The car is gonna be used as just a street car mostly but want something that has some good performance. you know, nothing to mild. anyways the cam is going to be a Comp Cams custom roller performance camshaft.

Depending on your rear end gears, I'd get an overdrive trans. 200r4 or 700r4.
Gas isn't getting any cheaper.
