MSD box mounting locations
Any of you guys out there have any pics of where you mounted your MSD ignition boxes? My car originally had it mounted under the dash but not done nice. I decided against keeping it there although it does keep the underhood side cleaner. I am thinking about putting it on top of the heater box on the firewall. I figure it should be a fairly short run for the wires and my car has plastic wheel wells so that idea didn't seem too hot. I thought I could also run the small wires through the factory firewall gutter and snake the main power wire inside the passenger side fender to the battery +. I decided to run HEI for now with it and already bypassed the module in the distributor. I'd like to see what it actually looks like there before I drill holes and mount. I guess my other option is Velcro for mock-up.

On my '70, I mounted the MSD 6AL box on the flat portion of driverside inner fender (plastic) just behind the headlights. Stays nice and cool & dry.
There is extension harnesses available from MSD. I hid all the wires running to the box in the fender.

I found some pictures on photobucket and cars for sale on ebay and went to a car show to see where guys stuck these things. I'm leaning towards just above the heater box on the engine compartment side of the firewall. I think it was mounted there at one time or another in the car's history judging by the holes that seem to be spaced pretty close

Grumpy, where did you find those skirts that cover the upper A arms? never saw those before. or did you make them? I mounted my 72s MSD pretty much in the same spot just flush on the firewall. I still run a HEI on my 68.

I'll be running an MSD coil and module kit with adapter harness to go along with mine. I'm going to leave the resistor wire in place and use it to turn on the box, since it is only acting as a power wire for a relay. I want to make it easy to go back to stock if I ever wanted to drop in a points style distributor. I guess I could always do it like that with a pertronix hall effect sensor and Blazter 2 coil or something too but I got an almost new HEI all set to go with a mild curve already tuned on it

Pretty sure we found those at NPD. I think that they staple on.
