Took the Chevelle out for a drive, almost at 200 miles. Pulled into the garage at 199.7 miles.

Drove it straight home from the NOCC show. Yes, I did not stop and she drove like a dream, all 2 hrs and 45 minutes.

Pulled in the driveway about 5 pm yesterday. Thankfully, no problems with the wagon on that 1450 mile round trip. Pretty good for a 43 yr old original engine. No tickets either.....

Trying to stay busy with little projects. Picked up a fan clutch last week, cleaned and painted the fan, and assembled the unit mid week.)
Started to take apart my distributor for cleaning over the weekend. Didn't want to come apart very easy, despite being a low mile take off and shelved for 40+ years. I let it sit a few days with some penetrating oil on the internals. Today, cleaned it all up. Then installed a Moroso recurve kit, and a Petronix III. The built in rev limiter is preset at 5500, should be a good starting point. Factory rating for peak power was at 4000 RPM. When this thing finally hits the rollers, we'll see if the improvements and tweaks moved the power curve any. (And yes, I assembled the distributor at the kitchen table. It's hot out in the garage.)

A little more assembly today...
However, the radiator my father purchased from NPD several years ago is a piece of crap. It does not fit at all, and is a poor excuse of a "replacement" part. Looking at radiators on Ground Up, but no actual pictures. Does anyone know where I can get a correct radiator that won't cost me an arm and a leg? I need a 4 core, HD cooling, manual transmission, 1972 Chevelle SS 454,

If you want aluminum call AlumiTech. He's a local guy here in MI. His rads look and fit just like original. Spray it black and no one will know. You'll pay more than copper/brass but he makes a nice radiator. If you want to stick with copper brass, sorry can't help. I have an O'Reilly's (formerly Murray's) 3 core. It fits properly and works great but you want a 4 core and I assume no bungs for an auto trans.
