FWIW, this aluminum trim was originally clear anodized.

True, but it can be removed. Lots of onfo on the net on how to remove anodized coating.

Looked locally and no one seemed to be interested in either re-anodizing or a chrome application of my original rocker molding. Was "playing" one night on the infamous ebay and found, bid and won a set of NOS 70-72 lower rocker molding still in original wrappings!! Arrived last Friday the 18th. Need to clean off the 40 year old wrapping residue, using mineral spirits and a soft cream metal polish. Looking great now, problem solved finally.
