How many Oz. Of Brake Fluid?
Doing a disc brake conversion on my 69 Chevelle, I am changing over to dot 5. How many oz. Am I going to need?
Thanks, Chris |

Just get the big bottle, 32 ounce for 8 bucks or so. You would use 2 of the 12 ounce jobs by the time you fill and bleed it at 5 bucks a pop. Extra is a good thing you will use it over time. It isn't like it will go to waste.

I just looked again it was DOT 4. It 20 bucks here for DOT 5 32 oz. and 9.50 for 11 ounce bottles, sorry. But still same logic applies. Cheaper in volume.

You think 1 qt. would be enough?

Yes it would be.

Is everything new? Are you going from Dot 3 to Dot 5? All components need to be clean before using Dot 5 if you have had dot 3 before.

Only thing new is up front, all lines and rear are older. Not sure if it has dot 3 in it now.

Need to flush the lines and rear brake cylinder if you are changing. The 2 don't mix and will gell up on you. I have heard using denatured alcohol to flush the lines. Maybe someone else can chime in on this. I had all new parts when I converted to Dot 5.
