Default Quarter Glass Trim

I am getting ready to replace the quarter glass chrome trim & rubber on my 69 Chevelle. Any tips or pointers would be appreciated.
Thanks, Chris

My two cents on replacing chrome trim. If you can find original and rechrome it, that is the way to go. A lot of the replacement chrome pieces don't fit correctly, no matter the year. If you kept the rubber that you took off then I would size the new to the old to make sure it will fit correctly.

I believe most of chrome glass trim is held on with an adhesive. Try heating up the the edge of the glass and chrome with a heat gun or hair dryer and starting from one end try prying with a PLASTIC pry tool. Don't use a metal tool because the edge of tempered glass is the most vulnerable part and will cause it to shatter.

Original on my 70 was a rubber seal folded over the edge of the glass then the chrome piece pressed on. I couldn't find the original rubber seal when I replaced the glass, I kept the original chrome. I used urethane to bond the chrome to the glass. I figure if it will hold a windshield in it will hold the chrome strip on. Still good after 3 -4 years.
