Convert to 454???
Hi,
I have a 69 Chevell SS (my dream car) that needs the 454 and a 400TB put in. The motor mounts are still attached to the motor. My husband says he would put rocker mounts on it instead. I guess my question is what is the easiest way to put this motor in? Also, will I need to change the driveshaft? We think it had a turbo 350 before. Thank you for your time!! Valentine |

Welcome and yes the TH350 is a different yoke than the TH400. The TH400 has a larger diameter and more splines on the output shaft. I just converted from a TH375 to a TH400 and needed a new driveshaft made up.

I responded to your PM...
The existing driveshaft can be shortened and the TH400 slip yoke installed on it. Hopefully you have a passenger tranny and not one from a truck/van. Those truck TH400 have a bolt in yoke although there is a way to work around that when installing in a passenger vehicle. I've done this tranny upgrade swaps numerous times...
