Default Scary drive in the chevelle yesterday

So yesterday I took the chevelle out for a spin. Meet up with a friend because we wanted to go to a local event for toys for tots. He tells me he needs to get gas so he hangs a left out the parking lot (of course he is in a mustang when this all happens so imagine the jokes I got) so I pull out behind him and it goes into a big hill. I floor it to catch up to him and all of a sudden I hear pop pop pop and it shut off on me. Now I had about 2 lines after half tank of gas when I looked at my gauge I was at empty. So I rolled into a parking lot and sat for a second. Said let me turn the key and see what happens. It struggled to start like it had no gas. I have a glass jar with some gas in it filled the bowls with gas started right up then I noticed no fuel pressure. Then out of no where I had pressures. Has something like this ever happen to you guys before? I was wondering if all my gas sloshed back to the front of the tank and nothing was at the pick up. I went right to the gas station and filled it up and had no issues the rest of the night. Thoughts??

O and yes he busted my chops about chevy all night until I found out he blew his motor in his 2012 gt 500 jokes ended right there...lol

Yes if a chevelle has 1/4 tank or less it will run out of gas if it runs good When floored. I have owned many many chevelles and they all did that. Look at the gauge when you floor it. It goes down. And it means what it says.

Shaun it has happened to me. Even last night when I was driving home from a cruise I kept saying I need to get some gas, I need to get some gas. Did I, no, it was to dang cold. I pulled it into the garage and said Oh crap I only have 1/8th tank. I am lucky I have a gas station about 1/2 mile from the house and I don't even have to go off a side street. Now let's hope I remember to do that. lol Usually I don't like to go below 1/2 tank, just because of what happened to you.

I never let mine drop below a quarter tank. Not sure just how accurate my gas gauge really is.

This shows my age and what I drove when I was young. After a 1/8 tank just cruise steady. It going to E anytime you touch the gas.The needle stops bouncing off of E at a stop. You got about 5-10 miles left.

+1 here. Learned it the worst way too.
Never, ever, let the gas run below 1/4 of your gas tank.

I think that it is funny that even with our experience with the gas dropping low that some of us, like me, still try to push the limits. lol
