For whatever it is worth, the pre-fabbed starter kits, fit like something out of a generic parts bin.... Even with lots of tweaking, test fitting, etc. they are a pain.

I spoke to a local body shop that just installed one of those modern Shop LLC interiors and they said they had many labor hours in just to get it all to fit correctly (way more than they would have expected given what the kit costs).

Those kits are only made out of 1/4" hardboard and just for the bare kit (no coverings) its $195.00. Aint no way I'm spending that.

I ordered my "faux leather" 4 1/2 yrds (more than enough) for $29.00. I'm going to use 1/2" MDF which will cost me around $27.00 so that's under $60.00 for it all.

I'm good at woodworking so I know I'm gonna have a primo lookin trunk.

If yours works out pretty easy, you could always make a few bucks by selling them.

Well I opted out of using MDF (way too tuff material) and went with 3/4" plywood. I took many measurements for the floor of the trunk and took extreme care cutting it all out. Started to put it in only to find out it was too friggin wide to get into the opening. 1/4" material would've been better because I would be able to bend it a tad. I ended cutting 1 1/4" off of both sides and it fits pretty good. Now onto the front, back and sides. Covering will be here by Friday.

Well after fighting all morning with these plywood patterns I've decided to shit-can the whole idea. Not only is it a bitch tryin to fit these things, the end result would be losing a lot of trunk space. I would lose 18" towards the front, 8" on both sides, 3" on the back and 2 1/4" up from the floor. To me that would be a lot of empty space.

I did have 2- 3'x4' mats that I got from Lowes that I cut to fit inside the trunk so I guess they're going back in for neatness looks.

I am sure you are more than capable but I ended up with the same decision when attempting mine. I didn't want to cut the spare tire mount out of my trunk to get the bottom board to lay flat and while the finished products look fantastic, the actual usable space is very limited. I like to carry a set of tools on the shelf under the speakers and mine just wasn't working out like I had hoped.

Well before I put my custom mats back in, I lined the trunk with "Fat Mat" sound deadener material. Now to take it out for a ride to see if its a little quieter.

The inside of my trunk was painted kinda like a light gray. Now its painted flat black and looks great with the black mats. Maybe tomorrow I'll take a pic of it.

Heres a before and after of the trunk. Gray with stock mat and now flat black with fitted mats.
